A referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan will be held this fall. This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev, speaking at the ceremony on the occasion of awarding of media workers.
“You are well aware that the development of the economy is impossible without a stable energy supply. Therefore, I instructed to work out the issue of building a nuclear power plant. A wide discussion is currently being conducted, different points of view are being expressed. The media must also take an active part in this process,” said The president whose words are quoted by the press service of the Kazakh leader.
Tokaev noted that in the country, indeed, there are great opportunities for the development of atomic energy. “It is important to use them correctly and effectively. The people will make the final decision on this issue. The referendum will take place this fall. The government will determine the exact date,” the president said.
