Kazakh President Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev met on Wednesday with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Helga Schmid, the press service of the Kazakh leader reports.
Having thanked Helga Schmid for participating in an international forum in Astana, Tokaev noted that this forum is designed to become a new platform to strengthen ties between the West and East.
“I think that the OSCE delegation you head will make a significant contribution to the solution of many problems that, unfortunately, exist in the modern world. For Kazakhstan, cooperation with the OSCE is a priority. We are worried about existing disagreements about the role of the organization. We We are still firmly convinced that we need to have strong connections within the organization, ”the president said.
According to Tokaev, Kazakhstan is an active participant in the OSCE. The head of the Kazakh state announced the country’s readiness to continue close cooperation with the OSCE in the spirit of mutually beneficial partnership and transparency and to provide comprehensive support to Helga Schmid as the Secretary General of the organization.
In turn, Helga Schmid thanked Tokaev for the invitation to take part in the International Forum of Astana. “I believe that now it is more important than ever to listen to each other in order to come to an agreement. This is a key task of the OSCE,” said the head of the organization.
