Kazakh President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev held negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, who arrived in Astana on a working visit.
According to the press service of the Kazakh leader, during the meeting, Tokaev noted the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership, which is largely facilitated by the regular political dialogue at the highest level, as well as the coordinated work of the governments and parliaments of the two countries.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan.
“We are seriously preparing for this visit. We believe that this will be a significant event in our interstate relationships. Our relations are exemplary and develop dynamically. The upcoming visit will give an additional impetus to our strategic partnership and allies,” Tokaev said.

He assured that all the key issues of the multifaceted cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan, including the agenda of the upcoming visit, are thoroughly worked out at the level of governments and foreign policy departments of the two countries.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev for organizing a scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of MGIMO, which received a wide resonance in diplomatic circles and the media.
Interlocutors discussed topical issues of the regional and international agenda, including interaction within the framework of multilateral structures and integration associations.
Earlier, Lavrov said that Russia made proposals for the construction of a nuclear power plant (nuclear power plant) in Kazakhstan.
“Russia is not only ready to help, Russia has already made its proposals. We monitored the referendum that President Tokaev conducted, he received support in his plans for the development of atomic energy. Rosatom is ready to fully provide his competencies in order to decide this Question with our Kazakhstani friends, ”the minister said at a press conference following a working visit to Kazakhstan.
