The root cause of January riots in Kazakhstan became an unacceptable gap between the income of the rich and poor. This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev at a meeting with representatives of the business community, reports TASS.
“The gap between rich and the poor achieved simply an unacceptable level. Against the background of corruption, about which you are well known, such a bundle in income played the role of burning matches in the powder barrel, which the terrorists took advantage, the militants and the conspirators,” said President.
He noted that the events occurred exposed problems that came to the years.
“Today, we have the task of the deep transformation of the entire public defendant in our significance. We need real reforms that are responsible for the aspirations and interests of Kazakhstan citizens,” he added.
