Day on September 16, former Ukrainian citizens who agreed to cooperate with the Russian occupation authorities did not ask.
The sun has not yet risen, as it became known about the death in Berdyansk Oleg Boyko, the deputy head of the military-civil administration of the city, and his wife Lyudmila, who headed the city election committee, who was engaged in the preparation of the referendum on joining Russia.
In the morning, a meeting of the heads of district occupation administrations took place through the regional administration building in Kherson, a hit by Himars missiles, which demolished a couple of floors. It is unknown about which of the collaborators died, but shots with Kirill Khremoyusov, deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region crying in his office, flew around social networks. He is convinced that they aimed at him.
And almost at the same time, a message came that there was an explosion in Lugansk in the building of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Lugansk Republic, as a result of which the Prosecutor General Sergey Gorenko died, and his deputy Ekaterina Steglenko died from wounds after some time.
This is far from the first and, of course, not the latest cases of attempt and eliminating traitors. They happened before the “big” war. The most famous is, of course, undermining August 31, 2018 of the head of the “DPR” Alexander Zakharchenko.
What distinguishes the current situation from the previous ones: collaborators hunting after an extremely successful attack of the Ukrainian army, as a result of which the Kharkov region was liberated and the prerequisites were created for the liberation of a large part of Lugansk. In addition, in the Kherson region, Russian troops have long passed to the defense and are gradually inferior to the settlement at the village. The battles go a couple tens of kilometers from Kherson himself.
After 2014-2015, in the occupied part of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions, not to mention the Crimea included in the Russian Federation, a considerable number of citizens of Ukraine who were in the occupation were sure that Russia came there forever. After the invasion of February 24, such were found in new occupied territories. Someone tried to get out of there, someone to organize a struggle, the majority just gained patience to survive, but there were also those who rushed to serve the new government, to prove their irreplaceability to new gentlemen.
But just a couple of weeks of September, they radically changed the situation. Now in Crimea, former Ukrainian citizens who have arrived and settled Russians have vague suspicions, and sometimes panic: the likelihood that the stolen territory will have to be returned is increasingly increasing. At the same time, the probability increases that for cooperation with the Russian authorities, for the betrayal of Ukraine will have to be responsible. A rocket on the building, a grenade in the window, a bomb under the car, a bullet in the face or knife in the back – a quite possible outcome for a collaborator, examples multiply. How many will want to tempt fate? Will there be a fight for the right to take the place of the Ukrainian Avengers who retired as a result of the work of the work and stand up for an attempt?
