Transit of grain through Moldova was discussed in Romania

Calls regarding grain transit through Moldova and grain exports from the republic, were discussed at a meeting in Romania. Representatives of Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, the European Commission and the United States of America took part in the discussions, Moldipres reports.

According to the deputy prime minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Vladimir Bole, investment in infrastructure is an urgent necessity for the country, given that at the moment the republic provides the transit of agricultural products from Ukraine to the European Union.

Vice Prime Minister noted that “the interest of the Republic of Moldova is to increase transport capacities by rail and water.”

“The problem is that we have low -quality railway and water infrastructure, which reduces the possibilities of transporting agricultural products. In order to ensure a faster connection of goods with the EU, it is necessary to increase investments. It is important that the Republic of Moldova was included in decision -making processes and new logistics routes, this increases the degree of cohesion. This will require additional means and efforts, but only thanks to cooperation we can develop stable projects at the regional level and provide a relationship with European infrastructure, ”said the pain.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bole talked with Romania Minister Sorin Mikhay Grindyan, head of the US State Department of the State Department of the State Department James O’Brien, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexander Kubrakov and director of DG Move Magda Kopchinskaya.

During the discussions, the Moldavian official noted the negative consequences of the war in Ukraine for manufacturers of agricultural products in the Republic of Moldova.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transport of Romania Sorin Grindyan said that large investments in infrastructure, which are carried out in Romania mainly due to European funds, are important for relations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the coming years.

After the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Moldova has an important role in the transit of agricultural products from Ukraine to the European Union.
