The agreement on the liberalization of freight transport between Ukraine and the European Union, known as “Transport visa”, is extended until December 31, 2025. Thus, Ukrainian car carriers will continue to need special permits.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine on Facebook, the decision was made possible thanks to the effective implementation and positive influence of the agreement on the economy of both parties, as well as the effective monitoring of its implementation.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Restoration-the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Alexei Kuleba, thanks to the “transport visa-free” export on roads to the European Union grew by 42%, and imports by road to Ukraine by 37%.
It is noted that for the first time, “transport visa -free” was agreed in June 2022. Traditionally, the agreement is valid for one year. In June 2024, it was extended for the third time for another year – until June 2025.
The department noted that then automatic prolongation was one of the conditions of the updated agreement until the end of 2025 in the absence of a negative impact on the parties to the agreement and the absence of violations.
