Treasures of deceased on Mont Blanc of Indian aircraft were divided in half

French mountaineer, who eight years ago found a box with emeralds, sapphires and rubies, received half of these jewels now.

Mountaineer, whose name is not disclosed, found a metal box on the glacier on Mont Blanc in 2013. On bags with jewels, it was possible to distinguish the inscription “Made in India”, so the French authorities assumed that they belonged to someone from the Passengers of the Indian liner, crashed on Mont Blanc for more than half a century ago, reports BBC.

Mountaineer, as it should be in French laws, carried a find to the police and still waited, will not have relatives of the owner of the jewelry. But they were not found, and now, after eight years, the authorities of Chamonix Commune, where Mont Blanc is, according to the law, shared with a jewel climber in half. Each half costs about 150 thousand euros.

Two Indian liners crashed on Mont Blanc in the last century. In 1950, 48 people were killed in 1950, in the crash of 1966 – 117 people. The French authorities suggest that the jewel is a passenger of the second liner, who flew from Bombay to New York. After those two cramps, the climbers for many years from time to time found on the Mont Blanche residues of baggage and human remains. In 2012, a bag with diplomatic mail from India was found on the mountain slopes. It was 1966 newspapers, calendars and a private letter. In the air crash of 1966, the Father of the Indian Nuclear Program Homi Jehangir Baba died.
