In the Baku Court of Crime, a preparatory court session was held in the criminal case of the famous lawyer Elchin Gambarov, accused of large -scale fraud.
According to the Haqqın.az correspondent, during the meeting, chaired by Judge Sabina Mammadzade, the questionnaire’s questionnaire data were clarified. Gambarov himself refused to testify. His lawyer Leila Namazzade asked to conduct a lawsuit closed, as well as transfer her client to house arrest. She substantiated this by the fact that the law prohibits the disclosure of professional, family and commercial secrets, as well as the fact that the damage caused to the victim was fully compensated. The court did not satisfy the petition.
After the judge announced the letter of the victim Elgun Shikhaliev. It confirmed that the damage in the amount of 510 thousand manat, caused by Gambarov, was completely reimbursed and that he has no complaints to the accused.
Another application was submitted by Gambarov himself. He asked to transfer it from the SGB insulator to the Baku investigative insulator. This petition was satisfied.
The court was appointed on March 7.
Note that Gambarov deceived the ex-head of the Main Investigative Department of the abolished Ministry of National Security of Movlam Shikhaliev, taking half a million Manatov from the family of ex-generation. In return, a lawyer who defended Shihaliev’s rights promised to help his transfer under house arrest or under a recognizance not to leave. The victim in the criminal case was recognized as the son of the ex-General Elgun Shikhaliev.
Gambarov himself previously headed the Law Bureau Mərkəz. In June last year, he was detained by SSB officers. The lawyer was accused of large -scale fraud and a lawyer license was taken from him.
The shikhaliev, deceived by Gambarov, is currently in prison. In September 2022, the Baku Military Court sentenced him to 12 years in prison as part of the sensational “MNB case”. Shikhaliev did not suit the verdict and he filed an appeal. The case is considered in the Baku Court of Appeal.
