The American leader noted that during a meeting with Macron, the parties reached an agreement on the need to make a European contribution to the process of ensuring the long -term security of Ukraine.
“We held a very productive meeting with President Macron. We agree that Europe should take on most of the costs of resolving the conflict and ensuring the safety of Ukraine,” Trump said.
According to him, negotiations with the presidents of the Russian Federation and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky are in a positive way.
“Moscow is also ready for an agreement. It will be beneficial to reach an agreement for Russia, I feel that this is possible. What happened can no longer change. This is a war that should not have been,” said the president. < /p>
Agreement with Ukraine on rare earth metals
The head of the White House also reported progress in negotiations under an agreement on rare earth metals with Ukraine.
“We have achieved significant progress in the issue of agreement on rare earth metals with Ukraine. We must conclude an agreement,” he added.
Trump emphasized that before his coming to power between Russia, Ukraine and the United States there were no serious contacts, but after his took office, the dialogue resumed.
“I want to be remembered not as a leader who started the war, but as the one who brought the world,” he emphasized.
The role of Europe in peace negotiations
The US President also stated that Washington had already spent more than $ 300 billion on the support of Ukraine, while Europe invested only $ 100 billion. This imbalance, according to the head of the White House, must be eliminated.
