US President Donald Trump said that the prospect of Ukraine’s accession to NATO has become one of the main causes of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev.
Speaking at a joint press conference with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the White House, Trump shared his view of the situation around the Russian-Ukrainian war.
According to him, the opening of the path to NATO for Ukraine has become one of the key factors that pushed Russia to military operations.
from the first day, even before (President of Russia Vladimir) Putin, they said that Ukraine could not become a member of NATO. It was stated very firmly. And I believe that this was the reason for the start of the war. The former spoke about it (the former US President) Biden, and (President of Ukraine Volodymyr) Zelensky, and I think this was one of the reasons for the beginning of the war.
He added that, despite the unambiguous position of Moscow on this issue, steps were taken in the opposite direction.
Trump: “With China, we will have a good relationship”
Touching relations between the United States and China, Trump noted that within his first presidential term, he had very good contacts with the chairman of China Xi Jinping before the beginning of the pandemic Covid-19.
I think we will have a very good relationship with China. I got along with the PRC chairman until the Covid -19 happened. I don’t want to look naive, but I think that I and I were quite close, and China is important A player in the world arena.
He also expressed the hope that China, India, Russia and the United States will be able to establish interaction, as it is important.
Speaking of military spending, Trump noted that China is rapidly increasing nuclear potential.
