The US President Donald Trump’s presidential administration granted federal agencies additional powers to strengthen measures to deport migrants.
According to the information published by The Wall Street Journal, the acting Minister of Internal Security Benjamin Huffman issued an order that expands the capabilities of federal structures regarding migration policy.
The document involves the endowment of departments such as the Drug Control Department (DEA), the Bureau for Control of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive Substances (ATF), as well as the Federal Marshals (USMS), additional powers for the deportation of migrants .
This order was a continuation of the initiatives of President Trump, who previously announced a national emergency on the southern border of the United States, which allowed to attract armed forces to ensure the security of the border.
Trump after the inauguration once again drew attention to the problem of illegal migration, announcing his intention to declare a state of emergency on the border with Mexico, as was the case in 2019. He emphasized that his goal is to stop the illegal stream of migrants and deport violators.
As part of these measures, the president signed a decree on improving the security level at the border and decided to send an additional 1,500 military to the border section between the United States and Mexico.
