Trump’s business imperium was found guilty of fraud

The court in New York recognized Trump Organization, owned by the family of former US President Donald Trump, guilty of tax fraud. During the process, neither Trump nor his relatives were accused, but this company manages their real estate, including hotels, golf clubs and other objects around the world, BBC reports.

The jury said that Trump Organization was guilty of all 17 accusations that the prosecutors brought her. The court found that Trump’s employees did not declare some income for more than 10 years, as a result of which they underwent a significant number of taxes. The main accused in the case was the former financial director of Trump Organization Alan Weiselberg, who pleaded guilty and testified against the company. The 75-year-old Weiselberg went on the track with the investigation, under the conditions of which he will spend no more than 5 months in prison. He must also return more than $ 1.7 million under detective income.

The verdict, in particular, says that Vaiselberg received undeclared expensive cars, furniture and money for vacation from the company. The company also paid for his grandson at a private school.

The verdict in the case will be issued on January 13, but it is expected that Trump will be fined $ 1.6 million.

Donald Trump said that this court had political reasons, and called him “witch hunt.” Trump’s lawyers said they would appeal the court decision.

The Prosecutor General of New York is also investigating another matter against Trump and his three children on suspicion of fraud. The prosecutor’s office believes that from 2011 to 2021, Trump Organization illegally overstated the value of the property belonging to it, thus increasing its capital by billions of dollars in order to illegally enrich and “deceive the system.”
