Tunisian President Cais Said Is Re -elected, Gaining 90.69 Percent Of Vote

In Tunisia, President Kais Said won the presidential election on October 6, gaining 90.69 percent of the vote.

Tunisia Higher Electoral Council announced the first results of the presidential election.

The head of the Supreme Electoral Council Farocker Buasker said at a press conference that Said received 90.69 percent of the vote.

Among other candidates, 1.97 percent of the vote, the leader of the “People’s Movement” Zuhir al -Magzavi received, and 7.35 percent – Ayashi Zamal businessman, who began his political life in 2020 as a member of the party “Long live Tunisia” .

Said, a professor of constitutional law, was first elected president in the elections held in 2019.

Zamal participated in the elections from prison due to the ongoing trial on charges of “giving false testimonies”.

At a press conference held after yesterday’s elections, Buasker said that 2,808,548 out of 9 753 217 voters in Turkey and abroad took part in the vote.

The large opposition parties of Tunisia has baicotted the elections. The An-Nahda movement and the front of national salvation refused to participate in the elections, claiming that “there is no suitable democratic climate” for the electoral process.
