Tunnel was discovered on border of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan for transference for smuggling

In the territory of the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan, an underground tunnel was discovered for transference of smuggling, Kyrgyz State Media reports.

According to the State Committee for the National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the tunnel was discovered on March 19 during operational measures to identify illegal migration and smuggling channels.

The tunnel, which was used for illegal transportation of goods and persons, was discovered in the house with a resident of the village of Bek-Abad in close proximity to the state border of Uzbekistan.

The depth of the tunnel was 15 meters, the total length was 130 meters, the length to the state border of Kyrgyzstan is 50 meters, the tunnel height was 1 meter 70 centimeters.

The owner of the house E.A. was detained for the organization of the smuggling channel 1986. Currently, the employees of the KRNB of the Kyrgyz Republic have begun appropriate measures to establish all involved persons to organize the functioning of the tunnel, persons illegally crossing the state border of Kyrgyzstan and the types of goods that illegally hit the country’s territory.
