Turkey refused to accept the help of rescuers of Cyprus after a tragic earthquake on February 6. This was stated by the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kornilios Korniliu.
“The Republic of Cyprus expressed their readiness to take part in rescue operations after a catastrophic earthquake in Turkey, but the Turkish side did not accept this assistance,” the statement published on the website of the Foreign Ministry of Cyprus.
In particular, after consultations with the civil defense, the department expressed its readiness to contribute in the form of sending a group consisting of 21 rescuers. The proposal was transmitted both through the European civil protection mechanism and through the Greek-Kir-Board negotiator Menelau, but the Turkish side refused to assist.
