The commander of the 2nd Army, General Metin Gurak, was appointed head of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.
The position of commander of the Ground Forces will be occupied by General Selchuk Bayractaroglu.
Turkish Air Force will be headed by General Zia Jemal Cadioglu.
In addition, 32 generals and admiral were increased by the decision of the Higher Military Council, 63 colonels received general and Admiral titles.
According to the statement of the Higher Military Council, the number of generals and admirals in the Armed Forces of Turkey will increase from 266 to 286 people.
The meeting of the Supreme Military Council of Turkey was held in the presidential complex in Ankara in the press closed for the press and lasted about 3 hours.
Prior to the meeting, members of the Council visited the Mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish Republic of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – “Anitkabir”.
