The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey condemned Russia’s intentions to conduct “referendums” in the territories of Ukraine, saying that this will complicate the diplomatic process and is fraught with the deepening of instability.
“We are concerned about attempts to conduct unilateral referendums on parts of Ukraine under Russian control. Such an illegitimate Fait Accomplis (a perfect fact) will not be recognized as an international community. On the contrary, it will impede the restoration of the diplomatic process and aggravate instability,” the department said.
The Foreign Ministry also expressed support for the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Ukraine and the willingness to implement any necessary contribution for the final resolution of the current war through peaceful negotiations.
