Turkey: demand for communication through satellites is growing

In Turkey, the number of subscribers and income of companies providing communication services through satellites.

As Anadolo reports with reference to the report on market data from the information technology management and communication of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for 2023, the satellite communication sector continues to grow in Turkey.

According to data, the number of subscribers of operators providing satellite communications services in 2019 was 11,642, and as of the end of last year, increased to 15,859.

Thus, over the past 5 years, the number of subscribers has increased by 36.2 percent.

Incomes of companies providing satellite communication services over the past 5 years have increased by 345 percent.

Active operators providing satellite communications services are the digital Platform Teknoloji Hizmetleri Aş (Digitürk), Andromeda TV Digital Platform İ̇letmelerim Aş (DSMART) and TTNET Aş (Tivibu). The income of these enterprises has increased by 38 percent over the past 5 years.

Communications satellites provide additional technology of underwater fiber-optical communication networks for fixed communication services.

This method is also used to communicate with regions inaccessible to a ground communication network, as well as with mobile sea and air vehicles.

Communication satellites are located on geostationary, medium, near -orbiting and high elliptical orbites.
