Turkey: Flamingo populations are guarded on Lake “Tuz”

Employees of the regional department of nature protection and national parks in Turkey conduct inspections in the area of ​​the Lake “Tuz” and the surrounding water-bobble lands in order to protect Flamingo populations.

Lake “Tuz”, it is also salty (“TUZ” translated from Turkish – “salt”) is located in the area of ​​the crossing of the borders of the provinces of Ankara, Konya and Aksarai.

Lake salt is considered healing, it is saturated with a large number of different minerals and is actively used for cosmetic purposes. Creams, masks and scrubs based on it, salt itself and souvenirs are sold in shops on the shore.

A unique feature of the salt of Lake Ace is pink flamingos that arrive every year on a lake for nesting and breeding offspring.

Every year, thousands of flamingos chicks hatch on the shores of the lake. Flamingo’s “families” remain here until September-October and fly to warm countries, growing chicks.

A regular inspection is carried out in the vicinity of the lake in order to identify and suppress possible dangers for graceful birds. All measures are taken so that the natural habitat of flamingos and their chicks is not caused the slightest damage.

The representative of the office of the eighth regional control of nature protection and national parks in Aksarai Musa Bozkurt told Anadolu that representatives of the Office are constantly visiting Lake Tuz and its environs, work is carried out round the day, all seasons.

“We work 24/7 to protect flamingos, which are one of the most important migratory birds for our country and fly to our region for reproduction. Our employees work with dedication and conduct effective monitoring of a fairly large territory,” the representative said management.

According to Bozkurt, birds are protected from poachers and other possible dangers. “The hatching chicks will need fresh water. We are constantly conducting checks so that there are no problems with the flow of these waters in the Lake” Ace “. We communicate to the relevant institutions in case of their occurrence,” he added.
