Turkey continues to fully comply with the Montreux Convention on the status of straits, and not a single country should be worried about this. This was stated by the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlyut Chavushoglu in an interview with NTV TV channel.
“We, as before, continue to fulfill Montreux Convention. It clearly limits the passage regime of warships. We continue to apply it, no one needs to worry about this,” the TASS leads the words of the head of the Turkish foreign policy.
Chavushoglu also touched the question of the status of the planned channel “Istanbul”: “Istanbul canal” will not have any relation to the regime of warships in the framework of the Montreux Convention. It is also not such a likelihood so that we forced the court to use the new channel instead of the Bosphorus ” .
