Turkey: gas and electricity have risen in price

The BotAS State Oil and Gas company announced the increase in natural gas prices by more than 30%from June 1, TASS reports.

“From June 1, 2022, natural gas prices are increased by 30%used in residential buildings. For subscribers in the industrial sector, gas prices increase by 40%,” the report said.

The tariff for the production of electricity using natural gas was also increased by 17%. As the Yeni şafak newspaper clarifies, so if the industrialists in Turkey previously paid 3,264 Turkish liras ($ 199) per cubic meter of natural gas, now they will be forced to pay 10,417 lire ($ 635) for a similar volume.

Following the message about increasing the prices of natural gas, Turkey authorities announced an increase from June 1 by the cost of electricity by 15%. “Prices for the electricity used in houses increased by 15%. The prices for the electricity used in the working sector increased by 25%,” the Turkish Energy Market Regulation (EPDK) Office said.
