Turkey: In 2023, SMEs Accounted For 35 % Of Exports And 20 % Of Imports

Small and medium -sized enterprises (SMEs) last year provided 35 percent of exports and 20 percent of Turkey imports. This is evidenced by the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (Tüi̇k).

The share of micro -enterprises in the total volume of Turkish exports in 2023 amounted to 3.4 percent, small enterprises – 13.2 percent, medium -sized enterprises – 18.4 percent and large enterprises – 65 percent. 58.1 percent of the export of SMEs was on the trading sector and 36.7 percent – to the industry sector.

The share of micro -enterprises in the total volume of Turkish imports in 2023 amounted to 1.4 percent, small enterprises – 7.2 percent, medium -sized enterprises – 11.3 percent and large enterprises – 80 percent. 64 percent of the Import of the SME was on the trading sector and 29.2 percent – to the industry sector.

The cost of export of SMEs, which amounts to $ 57 billion in 2013, increased to $ 87 billion in 2023. The cost of imports, which amounted to $ 48 billion in 2013, reached $ 68 billion in 2023.

49.3% of the total export of SMEs was on European countries

In 2023, 49.3 percent of the exports of SMEs accounted for European countries and 33.4 percent to the Asian countries. At the same time, the import of SMEs from the countries of Europe amounted to 48.2 percent, and from the Asian countries – 42.6 percent. Products of the manufacturing industry amounted to 91.1 percent of exports of MSP

The share of machines and equipment not included in other categories in the export of SMEs in 2023 amounted to 11, percent, the sewing industry – 10.9 percent, and textiles – 7.5 percent. At the same time, the main goods in the import of SMEs in 2023 were the main metals -26.2 percent, machines and equipment not included in other categories -14 percent, chemicals and chemical products -12.5 percent.
