Turkey Income From Tourism In 2024 Grew To Record $ 61 Billion

Turkey’s income from tourism in 2024 increased by 8.3 percent compared to a year earlier – up to 61 billion 103 million 419 thousand dollars.

Such data on Friday, January 31, is given by the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k).

Tourism income at the expense of tourists amounted to 60 billion 497 million 18 thousand dollars, and tourism revenues due to transfer passengers – 606 million 401 thousand dollars.

As follows from the report, about17 percent of tourism revenues had to be on citizens living abroad and arriving on a visit to Turkey.

At the same time, 43 billion 92 million 544 thousand dollars of this amount amounted to personal expenses, and 17 billion 404 million 474 thousand dollars – expenses for tourist packages.

The tourist flow to Turkey in 2024 increased by 9 percent – to 62 million 232 thousand 447 people. At the same time, 15.4 percent of them were Turkish citizens living abroad.

In 2024, the share of costs of package tours in total income from tourism from visitors was 28.8 percent, the share of food and drinks – 19.4 percent, and the share of expenses for international transportation is 12.5 percent. < /p>

During the specified period, the costs of package tours increased by 22.7 percent, food and drink costs – by 7.4 percent, and the costs of international transportation by 0.9 percent compared to the previous year.

Tourism expenses decreased by 8.2 percent

Last year, Turkey expenses for tourism decreased by 8.2 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 7 billion 741 million 2 thousand dollars. Of this amount, 6 billion 312 million 625 thousand dollars amounted to personal expenses, and 1 billion 428 million 377 thousand dollars – expenses for tourist packages.

The number of citizens who went abroad in the reporting year increased by 2.9 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 11 million 390 thousand 520 people. The average expenses for a person amounted to $ 680.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey at the beginning of last year set the goal of attracting 60 million tourists and receiving income of $ 60 billion.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersa updated this figure for 2024 and increased the target indicator of tourists to 61 million. According to the data published today, this indicator is exceeded.
