Turkey: it will be necessary to clear up to 100 million tons of rubble

The volume of rubble that has to be cleared in the disaster zone in Turkey can reach 100 million tons, writes Anadolu.

We are talking about the buildings destroyed by earthquakes, or the houses to be demolished. At the moment, in a number of provinces of the south and southeast of Turkey, the monitoring of the housing stock continues, and the deceit of the rubble of destroyed houses has begun.

The former head of the association of contractors for the demolition of buildings, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mab Yıkım Mehmet Ali Bulut shared with anadolu assessments of the scale of upcoming work.

According to him, today in Turkey there are 480 companies that have a certificate of “demolition contractor”. Given the companies that have not yet passed the appropriate certification or that have not at all appealed for receiving a certificate, the number of construction companies can reach 2 thousand

He noted that there are a lot of buildings to be demolished in the disaster zone.

“The operational demolition of buildings is not possible with ordinary methods. The demolition process can take up to 2 years. Of course, the process can be accelerated by the use of explosives, but such specialists are not enough in our country,” Bulut said.

The head of the company emphasized the special significance of the security measures of personnel and residents of nearby houses in the demolition of houses.

At the same time, he noted that the iron collected among the rubble can be directed for processing.

“We should not throw out a single gram of iron. Everything needs to be returned to the economy. The authorities have already announced the demolition plans of 61,722 buildings, which presumably means cleaning 89 million tons of blockages. Together with already destroyed buildings – we are talking about 100 million tons of tons As scrap, you can get 1 million 750 thousand tons of metal, which can bring 6.6 billion of the lire to the economy. The volume of blockages from the distress zone will be enough to completely fill in 660 stadiums, ”Bulut said.
