Open Air Museum in the Aziyan region in the Turkish province of Erzurum, where 500 stone artifacts will be represented, will open doors for visitors in 3 months.
Most of the artifacts were found during excavations in the Azisiye area, and dates back to the 14th century.
Among the artifacts of sarcophagi, cannon nuclei, tombstones, foundations of columns.
The head of the municipality of the district, Azisiy Jewdad Orhan, in an interview with Anadolu, expressed confidence that the museum would attract the attention of archaeologists and researchers.
According to him, most of the museum is ready for the opening. “In special catalogs in several languages, detailed information about each artifact will be presented. These catalogs will be transferred to embassies and consulates of foreign states,” he said.
Orhan noted that the catalogs will also be in the public domain on the Internet, which will help to attract guests from foreign countries.
Aziyei Museum will become the largest open -air museum in Turkey according to the number of artifacts presented, Orhan said.
“Erzurum annually visit about 1 million tourists. We hope that about 200 thousand local and foreign guests will visit our museum annually,” he said.
