In Turkey, the unemployment rate in August decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month and amounted to 8.5 percent.
According to the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k), the number of unemployed in the age group 15 years and older in August decreased by 89 thousand people to 3 million 55 thousand.
Compared to the same period last year, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 percentage points.
The level of unemployment among men is estimated at 7 percent, among women – at 11.4 percent.
As for young people aged 15-24 years, the unemployment rate in this group increased by 0.1 percentage points and amounted to 16.5 percent. Moreover, among young men it is 13.8 percent, and among women – 21.4 percent.
