The Minister of Industry and Technologies of Turkey Mustafa Varangka announced his readiness to discuss with Hungary the supply of her reactive systems of salvo fire (MLRS) as an alternative to American Himars.
This topic was raised at a meeting of the bilateral commission of countries on economic cooperation. The event was attended by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Peter Siyyarto.
“I do not know if Hungary will take steps for the purchases of Himars, but I will say the following: in Turkey we produce alternative systems. If there is an appropriate need, we are ready to provide the necessary support in this context,” said the Turkish minister (quote According to TASS).
Siyyarto in response stated that when discussing the purchases of weapons for his army, Hungary first addresses NATO allies, among whom there are Turkey.
He specified that while the Hungarian authorities are evaluating a number of proposals for the purchase of MLRS, but did not give details.
