Turkey paid compensation for killed Armenian journalist

The State Council of Turkey (Danıştay – the Supreme Administrative Court) approved the decision of the 6th Administrative Court of Istanbul on issuing a family editor of the AKOS newspaper Grant Dink killed in 2007, compensation in the amount of 1.5 million lire (approximately 167 thousand dollars ), Turkish media report.

According to information, the State Council rejected the complaint of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey and stood on the side of the Dink family, which declared that the Ministry of Internal Affairs made omission and is responsible for the investigation of the journalist’s murder.

Grant Dink was killed in January 2007 in Istanbul 17-year-old samaste on the verge of office of his newspaper in Istanbul. Samast was arrested by the police the day after the crime and in 2011 was sentenced by the court by the age of 22 and 10 months of imprisonment.
