In Turkey, not far from one of the oldest temple complexes in the world of GEBEKLY-TEGE (Shanliurfa Province), archaeologists have discovered 11 more large hills created by people. According to Daily Sabah, the embankments literally surround the facilities, built about 12 thousand years ago, at a distance of 100 kilometers.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy in a conversation with journalists noted that scientists called this area “12 hills”, as well as the “Pyramids of the Southeast of Turkey”.
“This region has a unique culture,” commented on Ersoy, adding that a major study on the hills is about to be completed, and the detailed report will be published in September.
Gebekley Tepla is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2011, and first was discovered in 1963 by archaeologists from Istanbul and Chicago.
