Citizen of Greece and Syria, Muhammad Amar Amar, was sentenced by the Supreme Criminal Court of Gaziantep to 12.5 years in prison for “political and military espionage” in favor of Greece, Turkish media write.
According to the investigation, AMPA arrested on June 26 collected information about Turkey’s activities on the Turkish-Syrian border and in the port of the city of Mercin, as well as about persons related to the Islamic State and Gulenists.
The court ruling says that AMPA provided information about security forces on the border with Turkey, the number of patrols, the availability of cameras and lighting, as well as the use of dog-detectors during a search.
