Turkey: smugg of artifacts of Roman era was prevented

Turkish security services seized the artifacts of the Roman era in smugglers, report Turkish media.

According to information, dozens of bronze coins of the Roman era were withdrawn, as well as the funeral stela and the statue of Jesus Christ.

It is noted that as a result of searches, the employees of the gendarmerie found from one man in the area of ​​Bellek about 45 coins. The suspect was detained on suspicion of smuggling.

In addition, in the province of Kut, when attempting to sell the funeral stele of the Roman era and the statue of Jesus Christ, two smugglers were detained.

In the course of the investigation, it turned out that men conducted illegal excavations and tried to sell the artifacts of the Roman era. Historical values ​​were transferred to the Directorate of the Museums of Gaziantep and Kutaye.
