The official representative of the Turkish President Ibrahim Kalyn called the negotiations with representatives of Sweden and Finland on June 20 at the NATO headquarters on the issue of joining the alliance of these two northern countries, reports Reuters.
According to him, negotiations will be continued, they are not tied to the upcoming NATO summit in late June in Madrid.
“The negotiations were open, sincere and will continue. Everything will depend on the steps that will take Sweden and Finland,” he told reporters in Brussels.
“The negotiation process regarding the concern of Turkey (in security matters) is not tied to the NATO summit in Madrid,” Kalyn noted. He added that in Ankara they expect from the northern countries to terminate the support of such terrorist organizations as the Kurdistan working party (RPK) and Feto.
The deputy head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, who took part in the press conference, said that all the necessary documents were transmitted to the parties and they are expected from “specific and clear answers”.
