Turkey’s Income From Tourism In Third Quarter Of Year Increased By 3.9%

Turkey’s income in the third quarter of this year increased by 3.9 percent compared to the same period of 2023 – up to 23 billion 219 million 751 thousand dollars. This is evidenced by the data from the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k), which announced the statistics of tourism for July-September 2024.

According to Tüi̇k, 14.7 percent of tourism income falls on Turkish citizens living abroad.

Tourist’s expenses for personal needs in the period in question amounted to 15 billion 77 million 957 thousand dollars, and for tourists – 8 billion 141 million 794 thousand dollars.

The number of visitors who left Turkey in the third quarter of this year increased by 3.5 percent compared to the same period last year – up to 23 million 206 thousand 579 people. Of these, 12.2 percent or 2 835 074 – Turkish citizens living abroad.

The costs of the night in the period under consideration amounted to an average of 95 dollars. At the same time, Turkey citizens living abroad spent an average of $ 62.

The share of expenses for package tours in tourism income in July and September of this year amounted to 35.1 percent, for food and drinks – 17.9 percent, and for international transportation – 10.9 percent.

At the same time, the costs of package tours increased by 18 percent compared to the same period last year, and the costs of food and drinks decreased by 2.2, for international transportation -on 7.6 percent.

For the indicated period, 71.6 percent of foreign guests visited Turkey mainly for “Travel, entertainment, sports and cultural events”, 19.4 percent to “visit relatives and friends” and 4 percent with the purpose of “shopping”.

At the same time, Turkey citizens living abroad arrived in the country mainly in order to “visit relatives and friends.” They account for 69.6 percent.
