Turkey’s income from tourism sector in first quarter grew by almost third

Turkish income from tourism in January -March 2023 increased by 32.3 percent compared to the same period last year – up to 8 billion 690 million 505 thousand dollars. It is reported on Friday, April 28, the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k).

At the same time, 20.8 percent of income was on Turkish citizens living abroad coming to their homeland. Travels were planned both individually and through travel agencies.

Tourist’s expenses for personal needs in Turkey in the first quarter of the year amounted to 7 billion 503 million 255 thousand dollars, and for tourists – 1 billion 187 million 249 thousand dollars.

The number of tourists who left Turkey in January -March increased by 26.8 percent compared to the same period last year – up to 8 million 181 thousand 566 people. Of these, 20.4 percent or 1 million 672 thousand 332 people are Turkish citizens living abroad.
