Participation of the Member countries of the organization of Turkic states (OTG) in the implementation of the Digital Silk Road project, which provides for the creation of a digital corridor between Europe and Aszia through Azerbaijan, was discussed at the 5th meeting of the OTG working group on information and communication technologies (ICT) , held in the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan October 25.
Azertelecom, Chairman of the Board of Azertelecom, Foid Allahverdiev, as well as the general director of operating issues Sergey Nazarenko took part at an event called “Development of Digital Infrastructure”, which presented the project “Digital Silk Traffic”, implemented by Azertelecom. Representatives of the company noted great interest in the project in the region and spoke about the participation of member countries of the organization of Turkic states in the implementation of the project.
“This large-scale project, passing through the territory of a number of Turkic states, will make an important contribution to providing the needs of Central Asia in Internet traffic. The project will open up new opportunities in global digital transformation processes in regions such as Anatoly, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia Against the backdrop of rapid changes and growth of Internet consumption in the world, the participation of member countries of the Turkic states in this large-scale project will contribute to wider cooperation in the field of construction of digital infrastructure and the development of the telecommunications industry in the region, ”said Fuad Allahverdiev.
The Digital Silk Road project, which will satisfy the needs of transit between Europe and Asia through Azerbaijan, is strategically important for all countries of the region. The “Digital Silk Road” was chosen as one of the five best strategic infrastructure projects in Asia at the Global Leadership Forum in the field of strategic infrastructure in the USA.

The organization of the Turkic states was created on the basis of the Nakhchivansky agreement, which was signed on October 3, 2009 by the heads of state of the Turkic -speaking countries at the Summit in Nakhchivan. Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are the member states of the organization, and Hungary and Turkmenistan are observer members.
