The products of the agricultural sector of Turkey are in record demand around the world.
According to the Turkish exporters Assembly (TİM), in 2024 the industry enterprises implemented the highest annual volume of exports in their history – 36.2 billion US dollars.
The volume of foreign sales of agricultural products increased by 3.3 percent compared to 2023, the share of the agricultural sector in the total export of Turkey was 16 percent.
Last year, Turkish export of fruit and vegetable products amounted to $ 2.7 billion, and dried fruits and products from them – $ 1.9 billion. According to the results of 2024, export of fruit and vegetable products increased by 1.2 percent, and dried fruits and products from them – by 0.8 percent.
The main area of Turkish exports of agrarian products was the US and Germany. The export of dried fruits and products from them to Germany amounted to $ 247.3 million, and the supply of fruits and vegetables to the United States – $ 429.4 million.
While many countries, due to the problems of climate and food safety, pursue a more protectionist policy, Türkiye attracts attention with its potential of a reliable and stable supplier. The head of the association added that the Turkish agricultural sector seeks to strengthen its presence in the strategic regions, such as the Middle East, North Africa and the Far East, and especially in the European Union. At the same time, she indicated that the EU market retains a key role in the agricultural export of Turkey due to its scale and logistics advantages. Mutlu said that efforts to expand the scope of the Customs Union between Turkey and the EU allowed Turkish products to strengthen their positions in the European market.
