Turkish dried fruits in 2024 increased by 15% compared to the previous year, reaching $ 1 billion 853 million.
As Anadol reports with reference to the Union of Exporters of the Aegean region, last year Turkey exported more than 100 countries 180 thousand tons of raisins in the amount of $ 532.6 million, 76 thousand tons of kuraga for $ 411.3 million and 63 thousands of tons of dried figs for $ 336.8 million.
The export of these three main products brought the Turkish sector of dried fruits in a total of 1 mlPD $ 280 million. Other types of dried fruits, such as pistachios, alms, cedar nuts, dried apples and plums, accounted for $ 573.2 million. The total exports amounted to 410 thousand tons, and income – 1 billion 853 million dollars.
In 2023, the sector exported 482 thousand tons of dried fruits in the amount of 1 billion 606 million dollars. In 2024, export volumes decreased by 15%, but income increased by the same 15%.
“We are a barn of dried fruits of the world”
Chairman of the Union of Exporters of Dried fruits and products of the Aegean region, Mehmet Ali Yshyk, noted that the dried fruit sector is one of the exemplary in Turkey.
“We export products to more than 100 countries. The volume of export is 1.8 billion dollars. We can rightfully be called a barn of dried fruits of the world,” said Yshyk.
He emphasized that this success is the cooperation of the state, private sector, universities, research institutes and farmers,
in Turkey as a whole, our export exceeded $ 1.8 billion. In 2025, we set the goal of reaching $ 2 billion. Of the total export of $ 1.1 billion, it provided the Aegean region, ”he said.
“We want to offer these useful products to the whole world”
Yshyk noted that the European market dominates the export of dried fruits, but in recent years there has been a significant increase in supplies to the USA, Canada, Brazil and the countries of the Far East:
“35% of our figs goes to the countries of the European Union. A similar picture is also with kuraga. Raisins are mainly exported to Europe. Our target markets are India and Asia. We strive to offer these useful products to the whole world. At the same time, our goal is to save land, transfer them to future generations and continue to grow products in a healthy way, ”he concluded.
