The volume of exports of the Turkish industry of decorative plants in 2023 exceeded $ 113 million. The sector has reached significant growth in the Russian market, where there is an increase in the consumption of floral products against the background of sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU).
The export of decorative plants in the Russian Federation in 2022, when the Russian-Ukrainian war began, amounted to 4 million 294 thousand 890 dollars, while in 2023 this figure increased to 5 million 649 thousand dollars. Turkish manufacturers of decorative plants intend to increase sales in this market in 2024.
In an interview with Anadolu, the deputy chairman of the board of the subsion of decorative plant manufacturers (Süsbir), Akhmet Dundar said that the production of decorative plants last year increased compared to the previous year.
According to him, Turkish manufacturers of decorative plants entered the Russian market, where high demand is observed, in particular, after the start of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
“Thanks to the growing demand for the Turkish sector of decorative plants, an important market has appeared,” Duundar said.
He noted that buyers from Russia showed interest in carnations and roses from among cut flowers, red carnations and red roses from among living plants, as well as to trees and landscape plants.
