Spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs ONJU KECHELI said that on the evening of March 21, unknown motorcyclists opened fire on the building of the Iraq Consulate General in Istanbul.
In a written statement by Kecheli, it is noted: “In the evening, unknown people on a motorcycle opened fire on the Iraq general in Istanbul. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.”
According to him, security units are a thorough investigation and establish the identities of the attackers., Kecheli assured that the perpetrators will be held accountable.
He noted that the Foreign Ministry is in constant contact with the Iraqi authorities and all measures are taken to ensure the safety of Iraq’s diplomatic missions in Ankara, Istanbul and Gaziantep.
“We convey our best wishes to our Iraqi brothers and sisters,” summed up the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry.
