The Turkish Armed Forces in the last week has neutralized 63 terrorists during anti -terrorist operations, including in the north of Syria and in the north of Iraq. According to him, the operations were carried out against YPG militants (the Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist organization), Deash and Fetö (terrorist organization Fetullah Gulen “Parallel State”).
Thus, the total number of terrorists neutralized from January 1, 2024 reached 582, of which 229 were in the north of Iraq and 353 in the north of Syria, Akturk said.
Akturk also noted the ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining stability in Syria, the return of refugees and ensuring normal life in this region.
In addition, the adviser said that 138 people, including 4 members of a terrorist organization, tried to illegally cross the border in the last week.
“The number of persons captured when trying to illegally cross the border from January 1, increased to 1747 people,” he said.
Akturk also said that the Minister of National Defense of Turkey Yashar Guler will visit Iraq on March 14 on an official visit with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and the director of the National Intelligence Organization by Ibrahim Kalyn.
