Türkiye took a new step towards exploration of oil and natural gas abroad, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said. The seismic research vessel Oruç Reis continues its activities in the seas of Somalia, at this stage a similar agreement with Pakistan has been reached.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayractar, who first visited the Pakistani Investment Forum on the mining industry as part of his visit to Islamabad, made a speech at the ministerial session.
The forum signed an agreement on joint projects between Turkish Petroleum and the Pakistani National Oil Oil Companies Mari Energies, OGDCL and PPL.
Bayractar, which was present at the signing ceremony, said: “This step will deepen the strategic energy partnership between Turkey and Pakistan and will become an important threshold from the point of view of regional energy security.”
After the forum, Bayractar held separate meetings with Pakistan’s oil Minister Ali Pervaz Malik and the Minister of Energy Sardar Ahmad Han Legari.
On June 30, 2025, Pakistan will hold a tender for 40 marine exploration blocks – 14 in the Macran and 26 basin and 26 in the ind. In accordance with the agreement, one Turkish and three Pakistani companies will jointly participate in the tender for the blocks that they will agree on.
Bayractar was also adopted by Pakistan Prime Minister Shakhbaz Sharif. During the meeting, the energy relations between Turkey and Pakistan were discussed.
The minister, as part of the visit, held a meeting with the commander of the Ground Forces of Pakistan General Asim Munir.
