Turkish red crescent celebrates 156th anniversary

The Turkish Society of the Red Crescent will continue humanitarian activities without limiting itself to temporary and geographical frames. This was said by the Deputy Chairman of the Society of Fatima Merich Yilmaz on the occasion of the 156th anniversary of the founding of the organization.

Ylmaz recalled that the Turkish Society of the Red Crescent was founded on June 11, 1868 under the name “Ottoman society for helping the wounded and sick soldiers.”

“Since then, the Turkish red crescent, together with philanthropists, brings hope and good to humanity, carrying out humanitarian activities in many corners of the world,” she said.

Yylmaz emphasized that the Turkish red crescent for 156 years has been a source of hope during the period of natural disasters, wars and epidemics.

According to her, the Turkish red crescent, who left behind 155 years, continues to work selflessly on the improvement and support of the lives of millions of people.
