Turkish scientists conducted research in the Antarctic, which will contribute to the future of mankind.

The ninth National Antarctic Scientific Expedition took place under the auspices of the Administration of the President of Turkey, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology in coordination with the Institute of Polar Research Tübi̇tak Mam.

The expedition participants were looking for answers to questions regarding the future of all mankind on a “white continent”, implementing 19 different projects this year as a whole.

A team of 20 people, including foreign researchers who were on the island of Horsha, where the Turkish research camp was located, conducted research related to the creation of new batymmetric maps, observation stations for close space, atmospheric and cosmic observations, the environment, pollution, meteorological measurements and water ecosystems.

In an interview with an anadol correspondent, the Coordinator of the 9th Antarctic Scientific Expedition, Professor Burdju Ozue, reported that, as part of the national polar research project, implemented under the auspices of the Turkish presidential administration since 2017, this year has been held in the 9th Antarctic Expedition, aimed at ensuring that Türkiye has turned into scientific and political force in the polar polar. regions.

Ozse noted that the participants of the Turkish expedition contributed to science from a global point of view due to the implementation of 19 projects in various fields related to the global change in the climate, space, environmental pollution caused by human activities. >

“We have become one step closer to the goal of our country to become an advisory member state within the framework of the Antarctic Treaty. Giving the priority of protecting our national interests not only at the regional level, but also on a global scale, we strive to strengthen the future of Turkey in the Antarctic.
