Hisar short and medium-range anti-aircraft missile system was successfully tested in 2019. After the Ministry of Defense Industry of Turkey announced the start of development of the Hisar-U long and medium-range air defense system, Turkish media reported.
The Turkish company Aselsan first presented the Hisar short-range and medium-range anti-aircraft missile system at the 12th International Defense Industry Fair 2015 (IDEF-2015), held from 5 to 8 May 2015 in Istanbul. The Hisar system included Hisar medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems, Hisar-A short-range anti-aircraft missile systems and a general fire control system. The Turkish company Roketsan was the developer of anti-aircraft guided missiles for both air defense systems.
Experts say that already in 2015, information began to appear that the Turkish defense industry was busy increasing the radius of interception of the system. To date, there is no exact information about the design and performance characteristics of the long-range air defense-missile defense system being developed. Various variations of the Hisar-U air defense systems are circulating on the network, but this is only a supposed design. In turn, the performance characteristics of the system can be as follows.
Minimum range: 30 km
Maximum range: according to different sources from 100 to 200+ km
Minimum target flight altitude: 100 meters
Maximum target flight altitude: 20+ km
So, the photo shows possible design options for air defense systems that have spread on the Internet since 2015. Interestingly, in these diagrams, the system has 12 and 18 launchers, while analogues have no more than 4 launchers. The chassis was developed by the Turkish defense company FNSS, the chassis design is called SAMUR (AAAB).
Domestic air defense and missile defense systems will help Turkey get rid of foreign dependence in this area and take its own niche in the defense market.
