The Turkish UAV Bayraktar TB3 went down in the history of world aircraft, becoming the first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to take off and landing from a short stripe.
According to Baykar, Bayraktar TB3, an armed unmanned aerial vehicle of its own development, successfully completed the take -off and landing from ships with a short runway and opened a new page in the history of aviation.
Bayraktar TB3 was the world’s first armed unmanned aerial vehicle that can take off and sit down with such ships with a short runway as TCG Anadolu.
Having successfully completed the ramp tests, the Bayraktar TB3 PT1 and PT2 recently flew out of the Baykar flight testing center to Edirn, and arrived at the Dalaman airport command post. During the measures held, Bayraktar TB3 PT1 made flights near TCG Anadolu day and night and without problems passed the “Testing Tests”.
After completing the tests on the ship on November 19, Bayraktar TB3 PT2 successfully took off with a short TCG Anadolu runway with an inclination of 12 degrees. Bayraktar TB3, which made a 46-minute test flight at the intersection of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, then successfully landed on the same short runway without using any landing support. This test flight opened the doors of a new era in the history of aviation and navigation.
– to a height with the domestic engine
BAYRAKTAR TB3 UAV successfully completed the tests of the high-altitude characteristics system during the flight held on June 25 in the Baykar flight testing center in Keshan, reached a height of 36,310 feet.
Thus, the national unmanned vehicle that took off with the PD-170 engine developed by the local company TAI Motor Sanayii Aivers (TEI) has overcame another critical line. The height record in the history of national aircraft belongs to the Bayraktar Akinci Ti̇ha aircraft developed by Baykar – 45,118 feet.
– Successful ramp tests
On June 1, during the tests that began in Chorlu and continued in the center of flight training and testing Baykar in Keshan, Bayraktar TB3 UCAV first took off from the ramp.
The runway was built with the same characteristics as on the TCG Anadolu deck, the test campaign was successful.
– total coating for more than 700 hours
In total, during the test flights, Bayraktar TB3 UCAV stayed in the air for more than 700 hours. During a long flight test conducted on December 20, 2023, the domestic UCAV was in the air for 32 hours without landing and overcame 5,700 kilometers.
