Türkiye And Azerbaijan Are Closely Cooperating In Agriculture And Livestock Farming

The Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Medzhnun Mammadov, announced joint projects with Turkey in the agricultural sector.

“We are closely cooperating with Turkey in such areas as agricultural insurance, livestock, veterinary medicine, efficient use of land and water resource management,” Mammadov said in an interview with Anadola in the fields of the 29th session of the conference of the parties to the UN Framular Convention On climate change (COP29), which takes place in Baku.

The Minister emphasized the significance of COP29 as the largest international event in the history of Azerbaijan and noted that agriculture is one of the most vulnerable sectors in the context of climate change. According to Mammadov, although agriculture makes less than 20% to the volumes of greenhouse gas emissions, it suffers greatly from climatic changes, such as drought, uneven precipitation and decreased water level in the rivers.

On November 19, Cop29 will be dedicated to the Day of “Food, Agriculture and Water”, and Azerbaijan plans to present “Baku initiative to adapt the climate” to combine all proposals in the agricultural sphere, the Minister/

speaking of relations with Turkey, Mamedov noted constant contact with the Minister of the Agricultural and Forestry of Turkey Ibrahim Yumakla and emphasized the importance of close cooperation between countries in a number of agrarian regions.
