A joint coordination center for Security of Turkey and Iraq will be created in Baghdad. This was reported by sources in the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.
According to information, the center management will be carried out at the level of the general, the appointment of which is approved by both parties.
The Center will function in accordance with the Iraq signed by the Memorandum of Understanding Cooperation in the Military Sphere, Safety sphere, as well as the fight against terrorism. “
It is noted that the text of the agreement published in a number of media is not true and differs from the signed text. The sources indicated that in accordance with the signed memorandum, the parties would cooperate in the field of military and law enforcement training, the fight against terrorist organizations, illegal migration and illegal penetrations across the common border, smuggling and organized crime, as well as in the field of exchange of intelligence information and defense.
“both military personnel and civilian personnel will work in the joint center. The number and qualifications of personnel, as well as the work procedure will be determined according to the results of technical consultations,” the information says.
It is emphasized that the main goal of the memorandum is to eliminate threats emanating from terrorist or prohibited organizations for sovereignty, safety and regional security of the two countries.
