The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey announced the resumption of joint ground patrol, carried out by Turkey and the Russian Federation in the zone of the Rodnik of the World in the north of Syria, which was previously suspended.
The ministry’s written statement recalls that the joint ground patrol was carried out in the West and East of the Rodnik World Operation Zone in accordance with the Sochi Memorandum, signed between Turkey and the Russian Federation on October 22, 2019, and the principles of its implementation.
The first joint terrestrial patrol was carried out on November 1, 2019.
The Ministry of Defense reports that “344 joint terrestrial patrol events were carried out until October 5, 2023, after which the patrol was terminated in connection with the security situation in the region. Joint ground patrol carried out by Turkey and the Russian Federation was resumed on August 22, 2024 years in the east of the zone of operation “Rodnik Mira” with the participation of 4 units of equipment (2 “Pars”, 2 “Kirpi-2”) and 24 personnel “.
“In order to ensure the security of the borders of Turkey of the civilian population in the region, establish stability in the north of Syria, identifying control points, headquarters and military structures belonging to the Red Army/YPG-SDG terrorist organization, which must leave the region in accordance with the agreement reached by Turkey with the United States and the Russian Federation, and demonstrations of Turkish -Russian cooperation in the fight against terrorism, it is planned to continue joint ground -based patrolling in the next period, ”the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey emphasizes.
