Between Turkey and Tajikistan, long -term “strong and indestructible” connections are established. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Fidan during a visit to Dushanbe.
The head of Turkish diplomacy held negotiations with the Tajik colleague Sirodzhiddin Mukhriddin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. Hakan Fidan noted that he had a very productive meeting with the President of Tajikistan.
According to him, the parties are determined to develop relations at all levels and areas based on mutual initiative and will demonstrated by the leaders of the two countries.
The Minister noted the need for efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries, primarily in the areas of economics, security, education and tourism. The diplomat said that the parties are currently consulting regarding the possibilities for expanding the activities of Turkish investors in Tajikistan.
According to the head of the department, during the visit, the implementation of a number of joint projects, as well as issues in the field of financing and investment, was discussed in detail.
Fidan noted that the parties exchanged views on the elimination of obstacles to bilateral trade and investment. According to the diplomat, in this framework it is planned to hold a meeting of the joint economic commission in the near future.
The Foreign Minister added that the activities of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (Tİka) are highly appreciated in Tajikistan. “Tika’s activities are highly valued in Tajikistan. Mr. President Emomali Rahman also noted this. This, of course, is a source of pride for us,” he said.
Fidan noted that the settlement of border disputes between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will contribute to the establishment of security and stability in the region.
“Turkey carries out close cooperation with the countries of the region, especially in terms of ensuring stability here,” he said
He said that the units of the Turkish and Tajik security forces will interact in the fight against the activities of radical groups. According to him, for this purpose, the corresponding mechanism has been established between the two countries. “We strive to further advance this mechanism,” Fidan said.
Fidan added that he informed the President of Tajikistan Imomali Rahmon about the plans of the head of the Turkish state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to make a visit to Tajikistan this year.
